However, Nandita helps us learn how to cook a quick sambar recipe. She uses a lot of shortcuts that will help us get moving much quicker. So try it out & let us know what you think :) This recipe serves 2-3 people You will require the following ingredients to make a quick sambar: 1 tsp Oil Pinch of asafoetida 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds 1/4 tsp Fenugreek Seeds 1 sprig Curry Leaves 2-3 Red Dried Chilli Salt 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder 1 cup Cooked Pumpkin cubes 1.5 tsp Tamarind Paste 1 cup hot water 2 tsp Sambar Powder 1 cup cooked thick Tur Dal Directions: Heat oil in a pan. Add dried red chilli, curry leaves, mustard and fenugreek seeds, asafoetida. Once the seeds crackle, add the cooked pumpkin cubes, 1/4 cup water, bring to simmer. Mix 1/2 cup hot water to the tamarind paste in a small bowl along with the sambar powder. Make a slurry. Add this to the pumpkin cubes in the pan. Bring to a simmer. Add salt, turmeric powder, cooked tur dal. Now you can cook South Indian food!
