MDMA, Ecstasy, Molly, Mandy, XTC. What does it do? What happens when people roll, drop and rave? And how does the body deal with MDMA after it is absorbed? This is the first video in a series about recreational drug use. This video is about MDMA, its history, effects, and metabolism. The next video will be about MDMA toxicity and how to manage it. MDMA was synthesised by Merck in 1912 but wasn't used on humans until the 1970s when psychotherapists started experimenting by using it to aid therapy. Shortly after this MDMA started appearing as a street drug and has been a favourite of ravers ever since then. The effects can be divided into three categories: Psychostimulant Autonomic Cardiovascular Metabolism is non-linear because of a process called Mechanism Based Inhibition, whereby the metabolites of MDMA inhibit its own breakdown. This is why a second dose can be much more effective and longer lasting than the first. If you enjoyed the video, please like and subscribe as it helps the YouTube algorithm tell me what worked well.
