Mudras are an essential element in Indian Classical dance, as in combination they create a sign language, which narrates stories from mythology and ancient poetry. In Mohiniyattam the Mudras are based on the written text Hastha Lakshana Deepika (the same text is used in Kathakali) and are derived from the ancient Sanskrit Theatre - Kudiyattam. In my mudra demonstration videos, I give the mudras as in the poem (shloka), with translation and gestural interpretation.
