Mini Micro is a miniature replica of the 0.13 cuin 1947 American Micro Diesel, in 0.4cc size. The engine was made by VA of St Petersburg in late 90s and was marketed by Dave Banks. The seemingly oddball timing with excessive subpiston induction of the full size Micro Diesel was copied in this mini replica as well. Maris Dislers experimented with spacer rings of various thicknesses at the base of the cylinder to raise it and, bring the timing to more familiar territory. My engine has such a spacer ring of 0.7mm thickness, which causes the retaining plug to protrude by that same amount. I did not make a performance comparison with and without the ring but my overall feeling is that the engine is easier to operate with the ring in place. The oddball timing story can be found in its entirety on Adrian Duncan's web site, and in Maris Dislers' report, linked below. https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.c... https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.c... The propeller is Cox gray 6x3. The fuel is 40% ether, 28% lamp oil, 30% castor oil and 2% Amsoil ignition improver. I'm still working on breaking-in the engine after a piston replacement by a fellow diesel enthusiast (thank you Mike!).
