Happy Taco Tuesday! On 3/12/25, I, TFC. Permenter, was stationary on the shoulder of Highway 67/167 North at the 3 mile marker. I observed a Honda Accord in the number three lane traveling at a high rate of speed, passing all traffic. I activated my rear radar, which read 84MPH in a 60 MPH zone. When the vehicle passed my location, the front stationary radar read 81MPH. I attempted to catch the vehicle, which was weaving through heavy traffic. When I was able to get near the vehicle, it was traveling at 86MPH in the number two lane. The vehicle was tailgating an 18-wheeler when I was able to get directly behind the Accord, my lights and siren already activated. The driver continued to travel above the posted speed limit and then changed into the number three lane and increased speeds to 77MPH. I followed behind the vehicle for approximately a mile and announced that I was in pursuit over the radio. The driver then abruptly stopped on the inside shoulder. When I approached the vehicle, I could not see the driver’s hands and I gave commands to put her hands where I could see them. The driver, Lakenya DAVIDSON, was on the phone and would not follow commands. I opened the door and asked DAVIDSON to exit the vehicle and she yelled that she would not. I asked her several more times and she continued to be noncompliant. I pulled DAVIDSON out of the car by the arm and she would not follow commands to give me her hands. After several moments of attempting to gain control of DAVIDSON’s hands, I was able to grab her right hand and place her into handcuffs. There was a Smith and Wesson M&P 380 in plain view in the center console of the vehicle. The handgun was stored with the vehicle and placed on the tow receipt for JHook Wrecker. DAVIDSON was transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center without incident. 27-50-302(a)(2): RECKLESS DRIVING 5-54-102: OBSTRUCTING GOVERNMENTAL OPERATIONS 5-54-103(b): REFUSAL TO SUBMIT TO ARREST 27-51-901: FAIL TO YIELD TO EMERGENCY VEHICLE 27-16-606: FAIL TO TRANSFER TO AR DRIVERS LICENSE
