Students with disabilities or challenged capabilities are often separated from mainstream schooling and given a ‘different’ environment for learning, or lack support in the mainstream classroom. The concept of segregated schooling has long been challenged. Leading research demonstrates that inclusive education is not only beneficial for children with learning and other disabilities, but has also shown positive educational and social results for students without them in an inclusive educational environment.
