Today is going to be great, because we're going to get right to the chase, we're going to skip all the filler, and we're going straight for the jugular vein. We're talking about what you really want, and we're not going to talk around it. We're going to get right to it. Let's do that, right now. Let's talk about what do you really want out of your consulting business. The first thing you want is to be respected. You want people to appreciate you for what it is that you do. The second thing you want to be able to do is charge high fees. You don't want to be seen as someone, as a typical consultant in your industry. You want to be seen as someone special, someone who demands extra attention and demands extra compensation. Third is you want time leverage. It's you don't want to have to be intimately with every single client, you want to be able to live a certain lifestyle, and to do that you need certain leverage in your business. In other words, you want to be coveted. You want to be seen as special. You want to be received as special. You want your clients to see you above and beyond any possible competition, because you do something excellent in their world. You want to be seen as coveted. Now, let's talk about what you do. You are working too hard for each client. Somewhere along the line, you bought into the harder you work, the more that client will value you. You know that's untrue, but you keep doing it anyway. You strive to know everything. Somewhere along the way, someone told you, you have to know all that there is about your expertise. And so, you keep reading, you keep pushing, you keep researching, you keep interviewing, you keep traveling, trying to "know everything." The more you know, it doesn't seem like your clients seem to care. You're striving to know everything. What else are you doing? You believe that all work is good work. Somewhere along the way, someone told you that your job is to put bread on the table. Your job is to put food on the table and food in your kids' mouths, and so every job that comes down the pipe you've got to take because all money is good money. That's what you do, and that is very much conventional wisdom or common wisdom. Now let's move to what they do. Those who are known for being coveted in their market. Let's talk about what they're doing. First of all, is they're practicing client selection. It's that they aren't working hard to work for every client. They choose, specifically choose, what clients they want to work with. Not work for, but work with. Coveted consultants focus on value. They don't care what they charge. The money doesn't mean anything to them. It's an issue of values. What can I do? What should I be doing to move my client the furthest the fastest? That's valuable. If that's valuable, then they'll respect me accordingly, and they'll compensate me accordingly, because they know I am something and my company does something of value. Third piece here is that they create that success over and over. Coveted consultants know what is valuable, and they know how to create that result for their clients over and over consistently. If you're producing something at a high level consistently, giving your clients excellent results consistently, then you can't be anything but coveted. You can't be anything but special because that's special. Being phenomenal every single time is absolutely special. To make that transition, what do you need to do, sitting at your desk right now to make the transition? Accept a new mentality. Let's start here. Clients do not choose you because you work hard. Clients choose you because you consistently deliver high value services. That means that your job is not to work hard. Your job is not to always be available. Your job is to figure out what that high value thing is, and then figure out how to consistently deliver that high value thing over and over and over. As of today, you now have a new job, and that new job is going to create much more value in the lives of your clients, and as a result, produce much more value in the lives, in your own business.
