Highline to the Loop | Hitchhiking Logan Pass, Grizzly on the Trail, Garden Wall Views | Glacier National Park This video captures a full 1 hour 20 minute day-long adventure in Glacier National Park, following the classic (and brutal) Logan Pass → Highline → The Loop route—with a few memorable twists along the way. We start the day by leaving our Airbnb and driving to The Loop parking lot. With vehicle access restricted, we gamble on hitchhiking up to Logan Pass Visitor Center and somehow pull it off without dying—already a win before the hike even starts. From Logan Pass, we begin hiking the Highline Trail, descending gradually for the first several miles with nonstop exposure and views. After roughly 7 miles, we reach the junction for the Grinnell Glacier Overlook—where the day instantly turns wild. A grizzly bear comes trotting straight down the hiking trail, scattering hikers as it goes. We watch it continue past the junction, moving down toward the 7-mile area and eventually heading in the direction of Granite Park Chalet. An unforgettable reminder that this trail runs through real bear country. After things clear out, we start the steep climb toward the overlook and the Garden Wall. Jana pushes hard and makes it to the overlook but decides not to continue farther. I continue solo up toward the Garden Wall and am rewarded with jaw-dropping views of Grinnell Glacier, Salamander Glacier, Grinnell Lake, Lake Josephine, Swiftcurrent Lake, and Sherburne Lake far below. From there, it’s all about the descent. We drop down to Granite Park Chalet—where we see pack horses being loaded out for the season since the chalet had closed the day before—take a quick restroom break, and then grind out the long, punishing downhill all the way back to The Loop parking lot. 🥾 Hike Stats (Approximate but Realistic) Distance: ~14–15 miles Total Elevation Gain: ~3,300–3,500 ft Total Elevation Loss: ~5,700–5,800 ft Highest Point: Garden Wall area (~7,900 ft) Route: Logan Pass → Highline Trail → Grinnell Glacier Overlook / Garden Wall → Granite Park Chalet → The Loop This hike delivers everything Glacier is known for—exposure, massive elevation change, world-class glacier views, and very real wildlife encounters. Not an easy day, but absolutely worth every step. 📌 Follow the Journey: 🔹 YouTube (Extreme Adventures): / @altitudeoverattitude 🔹 LinkedIn: LinkedIn.com/in/JeremyJanowski 🔹 Website: www.JeremyJanowski.com AI-Generated Music (if not written by me) 🚀 Defy Limits.
