Before there were Carhartt double-knees and Levi’s 501s, there was the Largeot. In the mid 1800s, French tailors and brands were creating some of the world’s best workwear, but it was ultimately the American brands that rose to prominence (and dominance). We went to France to explore the history of the Largeot, the underrated French work-pant that was very nearly forgotten. We meet with an expert in vintage French workwear and make our way into the French countryside to consult the last brand still making Largeots in France: Le Laboureur.
