Herping γύρω από τη Θεσσαλονίκη Οκτώβριος 2025 - δράκοι, λιμνόφιδο, κονάκι, σαύρες, άνουρα κ.ά.

Herping in areas around Thessaloniki, October 2025. The 1st excursion happened to low elevations of Chortiatis on October 5 with N and O. We started with a male starred ragon (Laudakia stellio). Higher, there were many blooming autumn crocus (Colchicum bivonae) and then invertebrates like Greek wolf spiders (Hogna graeca), female European mantises (Mantis religiosa), nymph of conehead mantis (Empusa fasciata), banded centipedes (Scolopendra cingulata) and others. At the stream, we found yellow-bellied toads (Bombina variegata). The 2nd exc happened to the same place on Oct 12 with the same group. In the agamid colony, we caught a juvenile and a large male L. stellio, and then inverts such as female M. religiosa and S. cingulata. In the evening, we rescued a female Balkan pond turtle (Mauremys rivulata) from an urban pond, which got released to appropriate habitat. The 3rd exc happened to Volvi lake and surrounding areas on Oct 19 with D and V. In the forest, we started with burrowing wolf spider (Geolycosa vultuosa). Blackberries (Rubus cretica) were common. We continued with metamorphs of water frog (Pelophylax ridibundus), juvenile green lizards (Lacerta viridis), a male dice snake (Natrix tessellata) around 55 cm, and juvenile agile frog (Rana dalmatina). Near the lake, we found Turkish snail (Helix lucorum), a male L. viridis and Mediterranean earthworm (Octodrilus complanatus). In the water, we found P. ridibundus, diving beetle (Cybister laterimarginalis), bitterling (Rhodius amarus), leech (Hirudo verbana), and dragonfly larvae. Near the stream we found many blooming cyclamens (Cyclamen hederifolium) and donkey ferns (Asplenium onopteris). We continued with a male slowworm (Anguis fragilis) around 45 cm, P. ridibundus metamorph, male freshwater crab (Potamon ibericum), S. cingulata, Strymon loach (Cobitis strumicae) and Geophilomorph (Himantarium gabrielis). The 4th exc happened to Seich Sou forest on Oct 25 with T, where we only found a mother radiated wolf spider (Hogna radiata) with her young. The 5th exc happened to the same areas on Oct 26 with S. We started with M. religiosa females and E. fasciata nymph. At the lake shore, there were shells of thick clam (Unio crassus), the host of R. amarus eggs. Then a few invertebrates, such as ground beetle (Carabus sp) and at night a female green toad (Bufotes viridis). Herping σε περιοχές γύρω από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, Οκτώβριος 2025. Η 1η εξόρμηση έγινε στα χαμηλά υψόμετρα του Χορτιάτη στις 5 Οκτωβρίου με τον Ν και τον Ο. Ξεκινήσαμε με έναν αρσενικό δράκο (Laudakia stellio). Ψηλότερα, είχε πολλά ανθισμένα κολχικά (Colchicum bivonae), και έπειτα ασπόνδυλα όπως ελληνικές λυκοαράχνες (Hogna graeca), θηλυκές κοινές μάντιδες (Mantis religiosa), νύμφη κωνοκέφαλης μάντιδας (Empusa fasciata), σαρανταποδαρούσες (Scolopendra cingulata) κι άλλα. Στο ρυάκι, βρήκαμε μπομπίνες (Bombina variegata). Η 2η εξορμ έγινε στο ίδιο μέρος στις 12 Οκτ με την ίδια ομάδα. Στην αποικία των αγαμιδών, πιάσαμε ένα νεαρό κι ένα μεγάλο αρσενικό L. Stellio, και μετά ασπόνδυλα όπως θηλυκά M. religiosa και S. Cingulata. Το απόγευμα διάσώσαμε μια θηλυκή ποταμοχελώνα (Mauremys rivulata), η οποία απελευθερώθηκε σε κατάλληλο ενδιαίτημα. Η 3η εξόρμ έγινε στη λίμνη Βόλβη και σε γύρω περιοχές στις 19 Οκτ με τον Δ και τον Β. Στο δάσος, ξεκινήσαμε με σκαπτική αράχνη λύκο (Geolycosa vultuosa). είχε πολλά βατόμουρα (Rubus cretica). Συνεχίσαμε με μετάμορφα κοινού βατράχου (Pelophylax ridibundus), νεαρές πρασινόσαυρες (Lacerta viridis), ένα αρσενικό λιμνόφιδο (Natrix tessellata) γύρω στα 55 εκ και νεαρό πηδοβάτραχο (Rana dalmatina). Κοντά στην ακτή της λίμνης, βρήκαμε κοινό σαλιγκάρι (Helix lucorum), μια αρσενική L. viridis και μεσογειακό γεωσκώληκα (Octodrilus complanatus). Στη λίμνη βρήκαμε P. ridibundus, δυτίσκο (Cybister laterimarginalis), μουρμουρίτσα (Rhodius amarus), βδέλλα (Hirudo verbana) και προνύμφες λιβελούλας. Κοντά στο ρυάκι υπήρχαν πολλά ανθισμένα κυκλάμηνα (Cyclamen hederifolium) και γαϊδουροφτέρη (Asplenium onopteris). Συνεχίσαμε με ένα αρσενικό κονάκι (Anguis fragilis) γύρω στα 45 εκ, μετάμορφο P. ridibundus, αρσενικό ποταμοκάβουρα (Potamon ibericum), S. Cingulata, στρυμονική βελονίτσα (Cobitis strumicae) και γεωφιλόμορφο (Himantarium gabrielis). Η 4η εξορμ έγινε στο Σέιχ Σου στις 25 Οκτ με τον Τ, όπου βρήκαμε μόνο μητέρα ακτινωτή αράχνη λύκο (Hogna radiata) με τα μικρά της. Η 5η εξόρμηση έγινε στις 26 Οκτ στα ίδια μέρη με τον Σ. Ξεκινήσαμε με θηλυκά M. religiosa και νύμφη E. fasciata. Στην ακτή, υπήρχαν όστρακα από παχύ μύδι γλυκού νερού (Unio crassus), τον ξενιστή των αυγών του R. amarus. Έπειτα λίγα ασπόνδυλα όπως κάραβος (Carabus coriaceus) και το βράδυ ένας θηλυκός πρασινόφρυνος (Bufotes viridis).
