In this episode, we talk about the quotient topology. Quotients of sets come from equivalence relations, which is a way to make precise the idea of "these things are pretty similar; I'd like them to be equal!" Then quotient topology is just the topology you'd put on a set quotient that forces nearness to make sense - if two points have been made equal, then they'd better have the same neighborhoods! Quotients are a very hands-on way to build topological spaces; we play with a bunch of examples of surfaces, and hold some crazy spaces in our hands. Möbius bands and Klein bottles and RP^2, oh my!
