In this video, we go back to the turn of the century to tell you how the pondless waterfall got started. We show you how we created the Original pondless waterfall using a popular filter manufacturer's filtration products in a way that they were never intended. We placed a waterfall filter for filtering ponds onto a water feature that didn't have a pond. We then used a bog filtration unit in reverse under the waterfalls. We showed our brand new "pondless" waterfall creation to the filtration manufacturer and the rest is history. The manufacturer released the first pondless waterfall kit to the masses based upon the concept we had created. The manufacturer received a brand new "kit" to sell utilizing components they already had! The pondless waterfall kit was born. The pondless waterfall concept grew in popularity extremely quickly, and the success of the pondless waterfall kit spawned many imitators. We learned fast that our Original pondless waterfall creation was nearly impossible to keep clean. We learned that the only way to clean it, was to hand pick debris from the rock and gravel at the bottom, and to disassemble the waterfall filter at the top. Taking what we learned, we abandoned our Original pondless waterfall concept, and all the rock and gravel pondless waterfall kit in total - and developed the first pondless waterfall kit that is easy to clean. Complete with an easy to clean pre-filter, and easy to clean backwashable waterfall filter.
