(...) Reaching the Sapientza enjoy swimming in idyllic, turqouise blue waters and white sands of the Ammos beach. You'll be welcome by Kri-Kri (Cretan Ibex goat), wild patridges, and pheasants coming down from rare arbutus forest (estimated to be 10.000 years old vegetation). Or from a bay Porto Longo, further more South, where an unbelievable marine life can be found, hike to the stone lighthouse build in 1885 along the pathway of dense vegetation. While on the lighthouse, infinite blue sea streches before the eyes with turqouise areas near the islands on the left (...) Every tour to Sapientza gives me a new experience... This time climbing up from Magazakia, we had found a nest (probably the only one on the island) of Saker Falcon, one of a largest of it's species (more studies need to be done), we had a pack of Mouflons running before us, a Kri-Kri goats, we had a swim in turquoise waters and have seeing the sarcophagus. But the one experience that will stay in my heart forever is saving the tortoise from its deadly trap. Probably stay in this hole for months before our paths have crossed. The poor creature would die there... Giorgos took it from the hole, we washed it from the red dirt, give some water to drink and full the hole with stones before let it free again. Ps.
