Trekking to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha , Bhutan 30 minutes drive from Punakha Dzong. This is a short and easy trek through Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. To get to the stupa we have to cross a small bridge over the Mochu River and walk through the small path between rice fields. Starts from the place from where rafting starts Korean and chinese visitors are here.. not very popular with Indians though Monastery was Built, under the instruction of Queen Mother. It took 9 long years in completing the temple and was built in 2004. This temple is dedicated for the well being being of Bhutan, protecting the kingdom from evil eyes and for the peace and harmony in the world. Located at a top of the hill and across a suspension bridge over the Mochu River (Female River) located in Yepaisa Village. Approximately 1 Hr trekk. Travellers can visit this Chorten throughout the year anytime between 9am–12pm, 1:30–5pm located in Yepaisa Village. ( 12.00pm to 1.30pm Closed ) This trekking will prepare you for the Tiger's Nest Trekking. Due to the low altitude and warm climate of the area, this hike is available all winter but the best times to visti March-May and September-November. Walk at a normal to slow pace, take rests in between when needed and go little to avoid the sun. Make sure you carry a sunscreen lotion with you at all times, can damage the skin. UV rays sunscreen which has an SPF of at least 50. The hike is of medium-low difficulty. The temple was small but well preserved. Worth the energy to get there. On reaching up, to the stupa via staircase amazing views of mountain , river, valley. On reaching up, we took the permission to reach up the stupa via staircase. Different views of mountain , river, valley. Three floors are there in this site. On the way, we can have tasty guavas , lot of rural vendors selling them. The hike is of medium-low difficulty. The temple was small but well preserved. Located on the hill above Punakha valley, KhamsumYulley Namgyal Chorten is a classic example of gorgeous traditions and architecture of Asian country. Chorten (temple) crafted beautifully in traditional Bhutanese style. Its exterior is in the form of a pagoda like stupa while the interior consists of four stories containing images of the deities of mandalas of Vajarakilaya. We have to walk through paddy field and then climb the hill. It took about 45 minutes to climb. Very beautifully constructed temple. Completely Bhutanese architecture. Lovely view of Punakha from the top of the temple. he view at the top of the temple is a 360 degree view of the whole valley, it is worth the hike.
