Princess Louise and Prince Leopold are two of Queen Victoria's children. Louise being the 6th child (born in 1848) and Leopold being the 8th child (born in 1853) in the family. The two had a really close sibling bond and Leopold absolutely idolized his big sister. Their close bond made their mother, Queen Victoria, jealous and she would some times forbidd the two to spend time with each other. At one time, when Leopold was young and had a severe haemophilia attack, the family thought he was at the brink of death. He asked for his sister Louise, but even then the Queen refused to let Louise in to see him. Since Leopold had haemophilia, a disease in which the blood does not clot properly, he was often ill and bed-ridden. When he was well he was not allowed to play with his other siblings. This made Leopold feel very isolated from the rest of the family. Louise saw this and understood him. She would therefore often try to nurse and provide company for her youngest brother. When Leopold died in 1884, at the age of 30, Louise was devastated. She wrote: "We were to each other the dearest friend we each had. He was the joy and object of a life time..."
