Poland takes the lead in massive NATO Main Battle Tank Exercise

Poland hosted one of the largest gathering of NATO heavy armour since the Cold War. Poland’s 11th Lubusz Armoured Cavalry Division is assigned as the main force to take part in this exercise, leading a multinational column of heavy armour consisting of main battle tanks and armoured vehicles,  they will march in columns for hundreds of miles. Poland even unleashed some of their newly purchased K2 Black Panther main battle tanks! Called Exercise Dragon 24 it is one of the main NATO exercises under the overarching Exercise Steadfast defender. Exercise Dragon 24 involved a total of about 20,000 soldiers and 3,500 units of equipment from 10 NATO countries, including about 15,000 soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces. The NATO exercise involved a major river crossing and overcoming natural obstacles such as ditches and streams as well as canals. The NATO forces key aim is to deploy to the politically sensitive Suwałki Gap area in Poland. The Suwałki Gap lies on the Polish-Lithuania border and is located between Belarus and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.  Russia will be watching.
