Animal by Def Leppard! Alright! Here's a really cool song recorded unbelievably well. There are so many overdubs. Def Leppard is just the 80s version of The Sweet. This is their "Ballroom Blitz." It's Pop. It's Rock. It's Pop Rock, the best kind of Rock there is. And it has some of the most superb background yelling ever in a song. These videos serve as lessons on how I play this bunch of Pop, Rock, and Reggae songs - sometimes as a single guitarist playing the only guitar part, though that's rare. And sometimes if there is more than one guitar part, then trying to find the single good path through the tune. I complete one pass, demonstrating different Rhythm parts, styles, and techniques. There is no talking. No discussion. No note-for-note explanations. As such, for clarity, my guitar is supposed to be louder in the mix than it would ever be in a live setting. But, if you really want to hear what I hear, do what I do and put on a good pair headphones with great bass response! It's worth it. Why this is important to Rhythm Guitar: It's the overdubs. Sometimes to make a track better, as a recording, as a product for sale, for radio, or just to sound cool, tons of Guitars are added and mixed together. This song must have 100 guitars on it. The opening riff I play is a good example. I play single notes, because that's what was recorded. What you hear is a lower note as well - and you could play it against the ascending A to Bb to C - but that lower notes IS the overdub. To play this song live you have to pick the essential parts. I pretty much show you how I would play HALF of the song. That's because this song is completely impossible without another Guitarist. Now, if I could only find that person who could actually do it - we'd really have something. #echohead #rhythmguitar #powerpop #defleppardguitar
