5 steps for a better STOP (works on any horse)

Teaching your horse to pay attention and hunt the stop can seem difficult. But in this video, we're going to show you the 4 cues we teach every one of our horses so that when we combine them, we have a solid, confident stop, no matter where we are. Remember, when teaching the stop, usually less is more when it comes to pressure. If we ride around with our legs in the "stop" position, you're going to burn up that cue. If you ride around with your reins constantly heavy on the horse's mouth, their responsiveness to the bit will be dulled dramatically. If you say "Whoa" all the time and never actually stop or enforce what you said, it won't mean anything to the horse. Refining any maneuver takes awareness on our part.
