I do not claim any ownership of the composition - only the arrangement and the audio. Welcome to possibly the deepest cut OST I've ever covered - at least in terms of Pokemon music. April 2023's Pixel Mixers contest theme was "Free-To-Play" games, and I was originally going to sit out because of VGMCon and my traveling up to Michigan at the beginning of this month. But just for kicks I decided to look through a few OST of a few different games. I was originally going to do something else from Pokemon Unite, but I couldn't really find anything that stuck out. I gave this one a quick skim... and holy crap this theme has no right to go as hard as it does. I'm a pretty big sucker for Latin jazz, and I don't arrange in this style very often so I knew I had to go for it. I haven't actually played Duel (My high school friends played it briefly in 2016 but that was about it), and the gameplay itself doesn't look to good - seems to me just like a pretty generic gacha mobile game. But this was incredibly fun to put together, and featured an amazing collab lineup. I want to give an extra shoutout to Zach on drums and his cousin Drew for being the recording engineer - I've known him since 9th grade and it's about time we got the time to work together.
