After another rather Kitamura-coded upload last week, I've decided to switch it up with one more tribute to Sakuraba-san's compositions within the Dark Souls trilogy! While still clearly inspired by certain Dark Souls III tracks - not least by their orchestral heaviness - I've actually leaned a bit harder into the Dark Souls 1 and 2 style, which is why this particular theme only consists of a single phase. I'm hoping that among the harmonic language, staccato choir stabs, deep chanting, and frantic percussion, the style does grow recognizable! In order to evoke a specific tone and atmosphere, this is actually one of the very rare examples of music pieces I've written in Locrian mode as well.
