King David is remembered as a hero, a worshipper, and “a man after God’s own heart.” But one night on his rooftop, he became something else entirely. While his army slept in tents on the battlefield, David stayed in Jerusalem—and from his palace roof he saw a woman bathing. Her name was Bathsheba. She was the wife of Uriah, one of David’s own loyal warriors. What began as a lingering look turned into a chain of sins that shocked heaven: abuse of power, adultery, lies, manipulation, and finally, calculated murder. David summoned Bathsheba, slept with her, and then tried to cover the pregnancy by calling Uriah back from war and pushing him to go home to his wife. When Uriah’s integrity ruined the plan, David had him placed on the frontlines and abandoned so he would be killed in battle. In this episode of Forgotten Scriptures, we walk through 2 Samuel 11–12 in detail: from the rooftop glance to the prophet Nathan’s parable, from David’s secret schemes to God’s public confrontation—“You are the man.” We’ll see how God exposes David’s sin, announces devastating consequences in his own household, and yet still offers forgiveness and a future, including the birth of Solomon, the child “loved by the Lord.” This is not the children’s story version of David and Bathsheba. This is the raw, uncomfortable account of how a spiritual leader can fall hard, what happens when power is abused, and why God’s grace never cancels all consequences. If you’ve ever wondered how someone deeply used by God can still commit terrible sins—or whether there is any way back after a failure like this—this story is for you. 📖 Scriptures used: 2 Samuel 11–12, Psalm 51.
