Brett Wilson

Brett Wilson, Canadian entrepreneur, member of the Order of Canada and lead dealmaker on CBC's Dragon's Den, spoke to HGS students about entrepreneurialism, service and philanthropy. It was a visit that won't soon be forgotten. Wilson spoke on the importance of family, as well as on crucial responsibilities accompanying privilege, specifically service and philanthropy. In particular, he encouraged the students to learn entrepreneurial skills, and to leverage these abilities to facilitate change and to give back, locally, regionally, nationally and globally. The students were clearly inspired, and had many questions for Wilson, who remarked afterwards on their engagement and their focus on philanthropy. Halifax Grammar School's motto is "Enter to learn, go forth to serve", and commitment to service is a key component of its mission.
