We would like to acknowledge and thank The Ian Potter Foundation for their visionary grant funding that has enabled Professor Sally Tracy, The Royal, and collaborative partners to develop a midwifery-led birth model for remote and regional Aboriginal women. Based on The Royal’s successful urban Malabar Midwifery Service, ‘Birth on Country’ will address the cultural, spiritual, and physical disconnection currently experienced by Aboriginal women and their families in regional and remote communities. 55% of Aboriginal women live in regional and remote areas and suffer some of the worst birth outcomes in the country. The health of Aboriginal Australians is integrally linked to their culture and the land, a link that is strengthened by giving birth on Country. We greatly appreciate the support of grant partners such as The Ian Potter Foundation and the positive health impact we are able to provide communities through investing in innovative models of care. The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation raises vital funds to provide life-changing healthcare to women and newborns. Help make a difference by donating today: https://www.royalwomen.org.au/CY0VDE
