Attend our webinar at 13.30 on the 20th May 2021 to put your questions to our expert panel on packaging EPR ahead of submitting your consultation response. Extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging ensures that the producers of products pay for the full cost of dealing with packaging at the end of its life. This will help ensure increased packaging recyclability. Zero Waste Scotland is supporting the Scottish Government in its discussions with UK Government, DAERA in Northern Ireland and the Welsh Government to inform the development of a new EPR scheme for packaging. A new EPR scheme for packaging will offer many environmental benefits such as reducing material use, improving packaging recycling and helping in litter prevention - another important step towards a circular economy in Scotland. A second stage consultation for a new UK packaging extended producer responsibility scheme is live until 4th June 2021. This is an important opportunity for industry stakeholders to have their say and input to the proposed changes. We will be talking live about the consultation in our webinar on the 20th May, hearing views from other organisations and taking questions which may be submitted live or in advance of the event at EPR@zerowastescotland.org.uk or using the #PackagingEPR to @ZeroWasteScot on Twitter. Panel members: Jamie Fry – Policy Analyst, Zero Waste Scotland; Emily Rae – Project Manager, Policy, Research and Evaluation, Zero Waste Scotland; Nathaniel Chalamanda – Specialist, Producer Responsibility, Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
