"Improving Civic Life at Greensboro College" - #1 (2025) Civically Engaged Student Webinar Series

Featuring: Xypher Pino, Greensboro College Xypher Pino is a 2024-25 North Carolina Campus Engagement Civic Impact Fellow. This presentation features current outcomes of his Fellowship Impact Project, which aims to improve the overall civic life of Greensboro College by implementing programs that provide a platform for civically passionate students to engage. Xypher shares how he is achieving a stronger civic life on campus through the addition of a civic workshop during mandatory classes for first-year students, the redesigning and reestablishment of civic projects, and the creation of a civic leadership program for select students. He concludes by offering insights and recommendations for other campuses interested in implementing similar initiatives. About the Presenter: Xypher Pino is a Junior at Greensboro College, majoring in Biology. He was born in the Philippines. He has been working with NC Campus Engagement for the last two years as a participant in the 2023 and 2024 NC Hunger Challenges, leading his team to two consecutive first-place wins that secured over $20,000 to support campus food insecurity efforts. Xypher is also a member of the 2024-25 cohort of North Carolina Civic Impact Fellows. On campus, he serves as Vice President of SGA and the coordinator of the Pride Pantry, GC's food insecurity resource. He is also part of the Honors College (currently working on his thesis project), serves as a tutor for biology and chemistry courses, is the executive editor of GC's school newspaper, and holds other involvements on and off campus.
