He portrayed Heathcliff in the 1967 BBC miniseries "Wuthering Heights", played a gypsy lad who saves the life and steals the heart of country girl Hayley Mills in "Gypsy Girl" (1966) and was the object of affection and desire of Ava Gardner and Stephanie Beacham in "Tam Lin" (1970).
