It can be said that boxing has always been part of Jorge Ebro's passion. Long before studying journalism and devoting himself entirely to covering fights from the most unrecognizable fight cards to world title evenings, this sport was part of the life of this young man. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, on June 30,1959. From a very young age he followed everything related to amateur boxing, as there was no professional boxing in Cuba. There was no domestic or foreign tournament that Ebro did not follow with great desire, without imagining that over time he would dedicate most of his journalistic activities to this tremendous sport, without imagining that this "other" boxing, the professional one, would fill the pages of the newspaper The New Herald. Jorge graduated in journalism from the University of Havana in 1992, and left Cuba for the United States in 2000, fed up with the socio-political situation in his country, his father being a political prisoner who had served time in prison for having confronted the communist government. In 2002, Jorge began writing for El Nuevo Herald and wrote about various topics, but especially baseball and boxing, the two favorite sports of his land and of many Latin American fans. The first boxing events he covered were those organized by beloved promoter Tuto Zabala at the Miccosukee Resort and Casino, where many young fighters were given opportunities on the Boxeo Telemundo screen. Without abandoning boxing coverage, every weekend he did reviews of the big fights in New York or Las Vegas, Jorge continued to cover the Miami Marlins, whom he has followed for over 20 years as well as long seasons of the Miami Heat. Meanwhile, the coverage of boxing in El Nuevo Herald has not only continued but has increased and not a day goes by without a note, an interview or report being published about the fighters who live in South Florida or those who visit the area. Thanks to technology, Jorge has been able to interview the best of boxing and has traveled to the great fights in Las Vegas, or in other locations. There has not been a boxing card in the last 20 years in South Florida where Jorge hasn't been involved in some way,
