オーストラリア初の無人運転都市鉄道のシドニーメトロ、ノースウェスト線のタラウォング→チャッツウッドの全区間4K前面展望映像です。 2019年5月26日に開業したこの路線は、タラウォングからチャッツウッドまでの36㎞を37分で結びます。 撮影当時は未開業でしたが、2024年8月19日よりチャッツウッドから先のサウスウエスト線としてシドナムまで延伸されました。 車両はアルストム製の無人運転車両で、当初の計画ではカラーリングはオレンジ色でした。 この路線のうち、エピングからチャッツウッドまでは2009年2月23日に先行開業しており、2018年9月29日に閉鎖されるまでの間は通常のシティレール(後のシドニートレイン)のダブルデッカーの車両で運用されていました。 シドニーメトロに転換されるにあたって、着席定員の減る新型車両には批判もあったようです。しかし延伸部分のトンネルの建設費を考慮すると、費用対効果の面で2階建てはやはり難しかったようです。 シドニーの電車は1964年から2階建て電車のみを投入し続けていましたが、この車両がデビューしたことによってシドニーでは1958年に登場したUセット以降、61年ぶりに新製された1階建ての電車となります。 逆区間タラウォング→チャッツウッド(2023年2月撮影)の動画はこちら    • 【4K前面展望】シドニーメトロノースウェスト線　チャッツウッド→タラウォング   4K cab view - Sydney Metro Tallawong to Chatswood This is a 4k cab view video of the Tallawong to Chatswood section of the Sydney Metro, Australia’s first driverless urban railway and metro. This line opened on May 26, 2019 and connected Chatswood with Tallawong, a distance of 36km in 37 minutes. At the time of filming the line terminated at Chatswood, but has since been extended to Sydenham Station with a tunnel under Sydney Harbor opening on August 19, 2024. The Sydney Metro carriages are manufactured by Alstom, and the original plan had them in orange, however they are now silver and blue. The original line between Epping and Chatswood opened February 23, 2009 and was serviced by regular CityRail (now Sydney Trains) double-decker carriages until the line was closed on September 29, 2018 for conversion to Metro operation. There were early criticisms that the Metro carriages had reduced seating, however the construction costs of the tunnel meant that constructing a tunnel big enough for double-decker carriages was not cost effective. The increased frequency of service was seen to mitigate this reduction. Sydney is famous for having double-decker trains on the network since 1964, and the Metro carriages bring back Sydney’s first newly manufactured single-decker train in 61 years, since the U-set that first appeared in 1958.
