Farewell, 2025...and good riddance. It's New Year's Eve, and we close the door behind us and enter a new year with limitless possibilities. That's why many folks make a pot of black eyed peas for luck in the year ahead. And that's what we're doing tonight on Cast Iron Wednesday: preparing a traditional pot of "Hoppin' John" and making a wish for luck in the year 2026. Like many, many traditional recipes, this is a very easy dish to prepare, and it's nothing more than boiling black-eyed peas and leftover pork pieces in a big cast iron pot, to be served with rice, collard greens and cornbread. And we'll be doing all of this tonight, as we relax and have some fun as we prepare to ring in the New Year. We're not going to be staying live on YouTube all the way to the New Year, so you'll be able to ring in the new in a manner of your choosing, whether that's alone or with friends and family. Most importantly, we'll be using cast iron in the kitchen tonight and talking about cast iron, as we make our New Year's resolutions and get ready for 2026.
