A fun day of wrenchin n swearin! Chip and Tony, with some help from their friend Russell Collins, completely take down this FXRD to the frame. They boys go for a test ride and we also see a sneak preview to the upcoming 131 Road Glide. Enjoy! Welcome to Shop Daze Episode 12 where we are officially kicking off our Born Free Show build. We are taking this FXR completely down to the frame to see exactly what we are working with. As with any bike of this age, we ran into plenty of crusty bolts, stripped heads, and sketchy previous repairs that we need to address before turning this into a proper performance machine. The plan for this build is to go big with an S&S Cycle 111 cubic inch engine and a Baker Drivetrain 6 speed transmission. We discuss the importance of frame prep, including cutting off unnecessary tabs and fixing the oil bag setup to ensure proper fuel atomization and combustion. Once the frame is dialed in, it is off to powder coat so we can start the reassembly process with clean components. We also touch on the paint plans with Pete and our goal to have this bike road ready by April for the show in June 2026.
