Dr. Sampath Chandra Prasad Rao and Team Bangalore Skull Base and Cochlear Institute successfully performed Asia Pacific’s First Osia Implant in a Skull Base Surgery for massive Petrous bone Epidermoid. The patient from Iraq presented with history of previous surgery with a 10 year old history of HB grade VI facial nerve paralysis and hearing loss. The tumor was completely excised via a Transcochlear Subtotal Petrosectomy. This was combined with facial plastic work by Dr. Vishwas KV that included upper lid loading, lateral canthal canthopexy and facial microfat grafting. After the combined procedures, an Osia Implant was placed on the ipsilateral side to restore hearing.
