A fan following from the rough, muddy village roads to the posh residing Gujarati cinema lovers of large cities, right up to to patriotic Indians living outside the country. He has been loved as a villain, a hero and now even as a supporting main stream cinema character actor. He is none other than Hiten Kumar. In my series- Shot with Big Shot, which will be coming on the web shortly, he was my first guest and what a pleasure it was to meet him. It was our good luck that he was in Surat for his play Pappa Amara Priminister, so we managed to organise it. We met at the venue of the shoot and I asked him if he wanted to go over the questions, he said, “ Let’s keep it spontaneous.” And spontaneous it was. We shot for 34 minutes instead of the 25 we wanted and I do not feel like editing any of it. His journey in the industry started with a role too risky for a young upcoming hero, but he nailed it. He entered the Gujarati Film Industry as a villain and became a hero, with his films breaking box office records in Dhollywood. He basically comes across as a genuinely good hearted human being and a true Son of the Soil, and this quality reflects in every which role he plays.
