General Tips for a Polish Work Visa Application • Find out all application requirements from your nearest Polish consulate or VFS service by visiting the website or calling the consulate in your region. The list may differ from country to country. For example, in some countries, it is enough to be a temporary resident to apply for a Polish work visa as a foreigner, but in others, you have to have permanent residence. • Collect all necessary documents even before booking an appointment • Study your application form and employer documents (more on this later). A common mistake would be not knowing your travel date or where are you going to stay, for example. • Provide clear and confident answers. Practice your answers in advance with your friend or a family member. • Try to be calm and relaxed during the interview • Dress code. Remember that the first impression is important and the consular decision will strongly depend on what kind of impression you will create. So try to wear nice, good-looking, non-sport clothes. • Do not be late. This is very very important. Avoid scheduling over meetings that day, come early. Study Your Application Documents Your application file consists typically of employer documents and your personal documents: Employer documents: • job offer letter • work permit (officially called Voivode work visa invitation) – this is the main official document • preliminary labor contract • official request to the embassy from the employer • some form of the accommodation letter or mention of the future living address Personal documents: • a return air ticket booking • a bank statement (optional). Normally we recommend having 3000-3500 EUR on your bank account, showing you can afford travel, food, and unexpected living expenses • documents confirming your qualification (optional). Try to get confirmation of work experience or training in the specialty indicated in our Voivodeship invitation • documents confirming your family ties (optional) Key Pieces of Information in Your Work Permit 1. Job title shall be translated via "Google translate" by you – you need to understand what your future job is. Double-check it with your dedicated manager from our team. You must tell that’s a position you will be working at and have some experience/clear understanding of how to perform. 2. Your official monthly salary in Polish money. You shall be able to tell that you understand how much it is in EUR. 3. Name of the employer organization 4. City in Poland where employment and accommodation will be taking place 5. You need to know the start and end date of your work visa invitation What To Do When Rejected • Set another appointment. You have 14 days (from the day you picked up your negative decision) to submit a request for reconsideration of your application. • Write down an appeal request from your side; describe why your case shall be reconsidered by the embassy. • Contact your dedicated manager and ask the employer to prepare a reconsideration-supporting letter (we often call it an appeal letter). • Analyze your possible mistakes during the previous application and try to do better this time Your Main Interview Strategy Remember that your main goal is to show a willingness to not become an illegal immigrant in Europe and come back home after your work visa expires (very important!). Show willingness to work hard and follow Polish society's rules (law) We wish you good luck with your future work immigration journey! ;)
