Jansonas was called for the Lithuania U-21 national team friendlies, at just 18, he was one of three that started on both friendlies. He is a LB, playing in the second tier of Lithuania, possession oriented and with predisposition to link up with target-man's. Even tho he isn't an explosive or a 5* skill player, he is very useful on the building phase and providing support on the final third. He is very enlightned when it comes to passing, able to play with high tempo, he has full perception of what is going on so he ends up finding an open man almost always, what is also impressive about him is that he is very mature when it comes to offensive positioning, as a good understanding of the game so he is a very good supportive player on the wing, providing offensive coverage on a variety of ways. As I mentioned he isn't a very flashy player but you can definitly see that he has a little bit of skill he doesn't showcase that much and his heading abillity is surprisingly good, considering he isn't very tall. On the other side, he lacks the confidence, this pretty much reflects on every weak part of his game, a lot of hesitation and passes to back when it's obvious he can help a lot more on playmaking, doesn't go for offensive duels and sometimes he has the space to be a little bit more adveturous but doesn't, on the defensive end he stays too close to CB's at time without need, avoids defensive 1v1's a little too much. Now what I said here could be completely wrong since I only watched 2 games, and if so, it means he lacks the abillity to do these things consistently or right, but I don't think so, if I'm right, we will grow out of these issues with more playing time and age. So, to conclude, he isn't a high rated prospect and probably will never be, but for an 18 year old, playing on the lithuanian second tier, it is amazing to see a player of his caliber, his rise to the first tier is inevitable, from there it's a bit unclear where he could end up, it's a matter of development, I do believe he is going to be a completely different player in 3 years, surely for the best, and can't wait how is carrer unwraps.
