There are many traditional versions of this hauntingly emotional melody that has been sung for hundreds of years. Here Sami Yusuf has created the first English version of this beautiful love song based loosely on translations from earlier variations. As we listen we realize that the longing expressed in this folk song, with its pure and simple melody, evokes the longing of the soul for the sacred.
