Another industry special! This is a similar technique to the Cutaneous Silent Period but instead looks at the sensory pathways originating from the chin (Mentalis Nerve) and the inhibitory affect that pain pathways ascending from it, have on muscle contraction (Masseter). This is a very exciting test for those wishing to study numbness in the lower face, particularly for post-dental complications, as whilst we can easily study motor pathways in the face, sensory's are very difficult. This can also complement the Blink Reflex and add additional information. Unlike the CSP, there are in fact two silent periods, more on that another time. As this is again a 'hack' on the H-Reflex, only 1 set of silent period markers will be input automatically, but you can just switch back into the program to measure the second set. The report generated lifts H-Reflex data. This results in the data being reported at least twice (once under H-Reflex, once under the relabeled MIR) and if you've also programmed CSP, as third time under that header. You'll need to delete those additional ones from the report. There are also a couple of different software versions of Keypoint.Net and so the setup screens can be a little different but the principles are the same.
