Chicken Manure Hot Composting System

We started composting as soon as we moved into our homestead. One of the major components of our hot composting system is chicken manure. I collect the chicken manure from the coop and put the pine shavings and manure in the compost bin. We also add our kitchen scraps and yard waste to the compost pile. The chickens eat most of the kitchen scraps but then they poop and scratch the compost up for us so that is a good thing. Dominic turned this compost pile over weekly for a few months. Once we left it to cure it got pretty hot for a few days. It is important that your manure gets hot and has time to cure so any dangerous bacteria will be transferred to your vegetable garden when you use it.
