North Korea Releases Video Claiming To Show Troops In Russia’s War On Ukraine

North Korea’s state television KRT on Friday broadcast footage purporting to show North Korean soldiers fighting Ukrainian troops in Russia's Kursk region, which shares a border with northeastern Ukraine. It was not clear when the videos were filmed. They show North Korean soldiers advancing through snow-covered battlefields, manoeuvring through ruined buildings and overturned vehicles as they fire artillery and launch missiles. From late October, North Korean troops began arriving in the Kursk region to fight alongside Russia under a mutual defence pact agreed months earlier between Putin and his ally Kim Jong Un. Russia in April said it regained full control of the Kursk region, a claim denied by Ukraine. In June, Ukraine's top military commander said Ukraine controlled about 90 square kilometres of Russia's Kursk region and was fighting Russian soldiers, largely to prevent Moscow from sending a significant number of its forces to Ukraine's eastern region of Donetsk, where some of the heaviest fighting has taken place in the more than three-year-old full-scale invasion.
