Trains at Little River during Peak Hour - Passenger Trains & Freight Trains; Melbourne Transport

In this video we see some afternoon peak hour action at Little River, a small station just outside Melbourne on the Geelong line. Here we see a variety of different V/Line passenger trains, including Vlocity DMU's and N Class locomotive hauled trains. Because little River is only a small station most trains run express through here, so we see many trains passing through at speed (160km/h). We also see a number of trains on the standard gauge, including two Pacific National freight trains and the Overland passenger train as it heads into Melbourne. Little River station opened on the 1 January 1857. The bluestone station buildings are some of the oldest in Victoria, being constructed in 1864 (hence the station is on the Victorian Heritage Register). Little River township has a population of 1,322. Fun fact: the Australian rock band Little River Band was named after this town. Date: October 2018.
