Sigri - Faneromeni 2023

A wistful celebration of what many think is the best natural beach on Lesvos. Its long, wide sandy nature, incorporating wetlands favoured by many bird species, has largely been untouched by development. A truly special place, Paralia Faneromeni is also rightly famous for its cave-set church - Panagia Faneromeni - the Hermitage of Ag. Theofanis. Progress and change however, are inevitable and may well be imminent following the 2022 publication of the design concept for a beach front eco-resort and the ongoing possibility of a nearby campsite development. It is hoped that any development will be sympathetic to the unique nature of Faneromeni and that these February 2023 images (supplemented with a few memories from earlier years) might be an interesting addition to the archives.
