#AroundTheWorld #Idalgashinna #SriLanka Around the World - Episode 27 | Idalgashinna, Sri Lanka. | ඉදල්ගස්හින්න 02:01 - Idalgashinna Railway Station 03:55 - Idalgashinna Hike 09:10 - Peak Rest Guest House Idalgashinna is located in the Welimada Divisional Secretariat of Badulla District in Sri Lanka. Situated away from any main roads, this hamlet is best known for its picturesque railway station. One access road to Idalgashinna starts from Haldummulla town and the other starts from Diyathalawa. Due to the bad condition of these routes, the railway has been the main mode of transportation for the locals. Idalgashinna Railway Station is located between the Ohiya and Haputhale railway stations on the 'Main Line' in the Sri Lankan Railway network, which connects Colombo Fort and Badulla. It is about 239 km from Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 1615 m above sea level. It was opened in 1893. Especially the 8 km stretch from Ohiya to this station, is very popular among hikers. This trek along the railway, passing 14 railroad tunnels, is a unique experience. Idalgashinna is a mountain pass that has been used to enter the central hills since ancient times. In the 16th century, the Portuguese attempted to invade the upcountry through this pass. Information about the Haldummulla Fort which they used for this attack, can be seen in the following video on our channel. • 🇱🇰 Ruins of Haldummulla Fort, Haldummulla,...
