At VOM’s 2025 From the Field National Conference, hear from Petr Jasek, a longtime servant of persecuted Christians, as he shares powerful stories and testimonies from believers who have counted the cost of following Christ. These are stories marked by resilience — faith lived out in the face of beatings, torture, imprisonment and even death. Through these believers’ example of courage, Petr challenges each of us to examine how we respond to hardship and opposition in our own lives. In this compelling message, Petr calls Christians to seek God’s plan and submit to his will, even when obedience leads through suffering or deep discomfort. He reminds us that persecution does not mean God is absent or silent. Instead, God remains sovereign, present and active, speaking to his people and strengthening them no matter the circumstances. The testimonies Petr shares reflect a deep trust in God’s control and a willingness to follow Christ wherever he leads. Petr has served persecuted Christians around the world for more than 20 years. In 2015, he traveled to Khartoum, Sudan, to meet with pastors and Christian leaders and to assess how The Voice of the Martyrs could help encourage believers facing severe persecution. As he attempted to leave the country, Petr was arrested at the airport, falsely accused of espionage and other crimes and sentenced to life in prison. After intense diplomatic negotiations by the Czech government, he was released after spending 445 days in prison because of his Christian work. Today, Petr continues to speak on behalf of persecuted Christians worldwide. He shares his personal testimony in his book, Imprisoned with ISIS: Faith in the Face of Evil, and encourages the global church to remain faithful, courageous and confident in the unchanging sovereignty of God. May God use Petr’s story and the testimonies of believers in Africa to encourage and challenge you through the bold and faithful witness of our brothers and sisters in Christ, inspiring you to serve and build up the global body of Christ at any cost. 00:00 – Arrested in Sudan: Missionary Imprisoned With ISIS Fighters 01:57 – From Missionary to Prisoner: Why Peter Yashik Was Arrested 05:13 – A Legacy of Faith: Growing Up Persecuted in Communist Czechoslovakia 07:12 – Burned Alive for Christ: The Yelwa Church Massacre in Nigeria 11:10 – She Forgave Her Persecutors: Monica’s Miraculous Survival 17:01 – Brutally Attacked at 13: Danjuma’s Story of Forgiveness and Faith 29:19 – Life Sentence to Freedom: Preaching the Gospel Inside Sudanese Prison #voiceofthemartyrs #vom2025 #persecutedchurch #christianpersecution #faithunderapressure #christiancourage #petrjasek
