Interviewer=I Alexi Laiho=AL I: Alexi Laiho, Emma award in hands. What is category? AL: Well Emma award in other hand and beer in other, so it isn't going so badly. I: Which actually feels now better, cold beer or that award? AL: Well this is heavier but this tastes better. I: Now tell fresh feelings about how it feels to hold that desired Emma award. AL: Sincerely this was a surprise because I thought that we could get some kind of gloomy pity award. But like....what the fuck is this? Metal album of the year or whatever. Really wonderful and it means so much for us. It doesn't have even any sense. I: Other nominees in this category were for example Sturm und Drang from Vaasa. You have years and kilometers behind so do you feel that Children of Bodom tease little ones. AL: No we never tease little ones in this category. Actually we support them. Definetly. I have met those guys, and I start supporting if you start to play metal in teenage attitude. We did the same thing; we were like 17 and 18 when our first album came out. If big boys come to annoy you, you must show middle fingers and say: "We will do it". I: So time for Sturm und Drang will come on someday. AL: Yes, I hope so. I: Alexi what do you think which has faster fingers, Jazz Emma nominee trumpeters or you? AL: Is it man or woman? I: I think there are many players. AL: Hey you didn't really answer my question. I: Lets say that there is men and women players AL: Touché. Lets say that Im little bit faster. I: You are going on tour to North-America. What are you going to say when people ask where does your name come from? AL: It has been said so many times that you dont need to tell it for Finnish people. But it was like pain in the ass when we had to explain in every fucking country this Bodom-lake spectacle. Every time when somebody comes to ask What is the story behind the lake Bodom you are like Oh fuck! I: So do you now have any regrets about name selection? AL: In those cases yes but not in others. I: German magazines thought in 2006 that you were Lordi without masks. Is there any risk that that misunderstood hasnt been fixed in US and they want you to play Hard Rock Hallelujah? AL: I think it was some British newspaper. But first of all, we wont never go to Eurovision song contest it is really clear. It would be fucking comedy to go in that contest. It is very funny. I got mail and it said that Lordi has been identified and there were our faces and one keyboardist girl who had played couple shows because Janne couldnt make it. And the picture was like 10 years old. And suddenly we are Lordi because that girl had played in Lordi or something. And you could only laugh about it; people came to ask Are you in Lordi? I: Have you ever been mixed up in any other metal bands? AL: I think that Lordi is the only one Actually, I was once in Florida and I went to theme park and I had this same look like now. Suddenly some security guy comes to me and asks Are you Axl Rose? And I was like Not so much That kind of things. I: Has security people ever harassed Children of the Bodom in airports when you travel around the world? To be honest I would take you and do special check to you. AL: That is racism you know? I: But we arent airport staff. AL: I have been in those special checks few times. In Finland rock people are thought to be better people. Sometimes security staff gives a bad look at me because I have long hair and tattoos and say Hey you, come over here I let them do their job but still I think that is racism. I: Now in the end we ask you a question which we have asked from everyone else. Externally you look absolute metal guy. But tell now some embarrassing song which has been in your mind.
