Musicality strategies for dancers. Musical phrases (AABA) (sub. ENG/CAST)

The music that we dance to is made up of phrases/sections that are repeated. The phrases usually have 4 eight (except those that have structure of blues chorus, that they have 6). The first two eight are usually quite equal among them while the last one is clearly different and resolute (the idea is closed). It seems logical that our dance follows a similar pattern (do things similar during the first two eight and close with a clearly different thing and resolute during the fourth eight). If we do it, our dance will express what music says and, therefore, this is a good way (there are others) to be musical. In this video, we put an example of how this could be translated into practice, assuming we only did eight-count steps. We have marked the structure so that you can better perceive the musical ideas (the phrases/sections) and check how we shape it in our dance. Also, note that there are two types of phrases (A and B) that are inserted into a structure type AABA. To better mark the difference in ideas, the type A phrases we dance swing out variations and the type B with back to fronts. Obviously, the possibilities are unlimited and everyone has to express the phrases/sections in their own way.
