The new-for-1939 2-ton & 3-ton "Job Rated" Dodge trucks are the subject of this classic brochure review. This year saw the launch of the Job Rated truck line, that ran from 1939 through to 1947. Here the larger end of the range is described, namely the late 1930s TH 2-ton petrol series, the TK 3-ton petrol series - and the TKD diesel equivalents. All were powered by Chrysler's well-established six-cylinder sidevalve engines, 241.5 cubic inch in the case of the TH, and 331.34 cubic inch for the TK (both petrol and diesel). This original full-colour sales brochure was printed in November 1938 for the 1939 season, and various examples of these large classic trucks are featured, including a glorious school bus, and the 3-ton COE (cab-overs, or Cab Over Engine). I love the pre-war American trucks and their "art deco" inspired designs, and this beautifully illustrated brochure really captures the style of the era. Full specifications (engine options, body options, wheelbase options etc) are all presented in the brochure, which hopefully will be worthwhile viewing for anyone with an interest in classic and vintage trucks (American commercial vehicles are "trucks", while British-built vehicles are "lorries"!!). If you're a fan of these vehicles, and/or truck memorabilia, please pop a note in the comments below and Like the video. A number of commercial vehicle vids have now been uploaded, including for my own 1940 Dodge truck, which is linked to at the end of this video.
