🍲 Restaurant-Style Dal Makhani Recipe | Creamy & Rich (Serves 4) Bring the authentic taste of a North Indian restaurant to your home with this rich, creamy, and slow-cooked Dal Makhani. Made with whole black lentils, kidney beans, butter, and fresh cream—this recipe is perfect for lunch or dinner. ⸻ 🧾 Ingredients • Whole Black Lentils (Sabut Urad Dal) – 1 cup • Kidney Beans (Rajma) – ¼ cup • Butter – 3 tbsp • Oil – 1 tbsp • Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp • Bay Leaf – 1 • Cinnamon Stick – 1 small piece • Cloves – 2 • Onion (finely chopped) – 1 medium • Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp • Tomato Purée – 2 cups • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp • Garam Masala – ½ tsp • Fresh Cream – ½ cup • Salt – to taste • Water – as required • Kasuri Methi (crushed) – 1 tsp ⸻ 👩🍳 Method 1️⃣ Cook the Lentils Wash and soak urad dal and rajma for 8–10 hours or overnight. Pressure cook with salt and water until soft (8–10 whistles). Lightly mash and keep aside. 2️⃣ Prepare the Masala Heat oil and 2 tbsp butter in a heavy pan. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, and cloves. Add onions and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until aromatic. 3️⃣ Tomato Base Add tomato purée, red chilli powder, Kashmiri chilli powder, and coriander powder. Cook on medium heat until butter starts separating. 4️⃣ Combine Dal Add cooked dal and rajma. Adjust consistency with water. Simmer on low heat for 30–40 minutes (longer cooking = better flavor). 5️⃣ Final Touch Add fresh cream, remaining butter, garam masala, and crushed kasuri methi. Cook for another 5 minutes. ⸻ ✨ Serve hot with naan, butter roti, or jeera rice.
