Over the years, Africa has been stereotyped in many ways often depicted as a continent of wars, hunger, poverty and lacking civilisation. However, young talented vibrant Africans who have great creative and innovative skills are now challenging this skewed narrative and pushing for a change of mindset. They are doing this through animation and comic production with Nigerian artists, Tobe Max Ezeogu and Scott Chinedu Eneje, trying to lead on this path. They tell fascinating African stories through their separate artistic works targeting audiences internationally. Tobe Max Ezeogu is a comic book creator and illustrator for about a decade and is the founder of Juju Games firm. He creates Nigerian comic book heroes, one of his latest creation is Vodou, a bounty hunter who moves around the city capturing villains and getting paid. His work is influencing people in Africa and beyond. Similarly, Justice Izuchukwu Eneje, the co-founder of Tribe Temple Studio and Scott Chinedu Eneje who is the Chief production officer of Tribe Temple Studio, hope to unite the entire African continent and change the perception about the continent with a single narrative of positivity through their animation works. Justice and Scott have a common goal - to share great African stories with the rest of world. They have jointly created an animation series called the ‘Legends of Alkebulan’, which focused on some myths about African deities and lessons to learn with stunning visuals. It also projects the beauty and diversity of the continent’s cultural heritage. #trtafrika #nigeria #animation
