Welcome to the farm! Join us, Bill and Miki (My-Key) on our journey of homesteading life in beautiful South Carolina. Today we are back in the garden finishing up planting seeds for fall. We planted Brussel Sprouts, Radish, Garlic, Sweet Onions, Bunching Onions, Carrots, Broccoli, Spinach, Collards, Cabbage and what I call a lazy man's garden ~ broadcasted with Kale, Radish & Purple Top Turnip seeds. Come along and take a look at what's already sprouting! Get an update on the soil after Hubby did some tilling and put in a thick layer of mulch that we had brought in by a local tree trimming company. We are hoping to get a rich layer of topsoil from the compost come next year. And wait until you see the BIG question I asked...It's a lifelong commitment, but I'm ALL IN! No matter how hard we work around here, we always have time to laugh and have a little fun! If you missed our previous video, Hubby is gathering up the last of the Crimson Spineless Okra and harvesting it for seed to save for next year's crop and getting some needed chores done around the farm - he's got a list of things to do before winter! He's tilling up the last of the summer garden so we can put it to rest and winterized. We hope to start next season off with a rich layer of topsoil. It's still dry and dusty here that makes for a challenge. But with a mouthful of dust and dirt, we push through with grit and grind because it has to be done. Progress is a continuous journey! And a farmer embraces the difficulties because our focus is on long-term goals. We are resilient and learn to adapt to changes so we can continue moving forward with clarity and strength. Come along and help feed some animals, get an update on our Nubian goats since we moved them to another pasture, and do some good old-fashioned tractor work.
