Telecaster Electric Epoxy Guitar Build with Udon Noodles that glows in the dark

I was inspired by Burls Art doing his Epoxy Guitar, so I decided to do something no one has ever dared before: A guitar out of Udon Noodles with some UV powder to spice things up! This guitar looks & plays al dente! Thought you've seen it all? Check out this one! In the guitar building industry there's much buzz about so-called 'tone wood'. In my opinion the effect of different types of wood to the guitar tone is excessively overrated and this custom guitar build is proof for that. The first steps on how to build a guitar like this are quiet different from regular guitar building. If we want to build a Fender Telecaster / Noodlecaster like this we need a nice silicon mould out of 2 component impression silicon. For this purpose I've bought a DIY electric guitar building kit: The Harley Benton T-Kit. It has all the components we need and also a wood guitar body which we can use to create our mould. We cover the guitar body with oil, so we can seperate it more easily later and cover the whole thing with impression silicon. It pays off to use high quality silicon for that. There are a lot of different types of silicon available in your local DIY warehouse for example. But only high quality impression silicon gives us the mould we can work with. After the mould is hardened, which takes up to 48 hours, we cut it open in a zig zag pattern. That will ensure that it sticks better together when we fill it with the epoxy resin. Then we fill the finished mould with a few millimeters of epoxy resin enriched with ultra violet color powder. This gives us our guitar the unmatched 'glow in the dark look'. Time for the Udon Noodles. This idea is based on the meme where somebody fixed a kitchen sink with Ramen Noodles. Instead of Ramen Noodles I choose to use Udon instead. They look much better if they are dry and they are better to handle. In the video I also make the joke to use 'high quality certified tone noodles'. That's a reference to the tone wood discussion I've mentioned earlier. We carefully place the noodles inside of the mould, seal it accurately and then apply about 3,5 liters of epoxy resin. (I know that's a lot but after all it's an epoxy guitar). As soon as the epoxy is hardened, which usually takes about another 48 hours, we can have a look at our casted body and carefully remove everything unnecessary. I usally use an eccentric grinder to get the body and shape and a Dremel tool to remove much of the waste. Grinding is a very tedious process on this but the more effort you put it the better it looks in the end. After that it's time for the marriage! The placement of the neck on the body. Usually there are a lot of adjustment necessary, so make your Dremel tool ready. Before placing the bridge it's advised to drill some holes in which the bridge can be attached to and fill them with pure epoxy resin. We don't want noodles to ruin our game here. Place the bridge and all eletric guitar parts on the body and you are almost finished with your epoxy resin noodle guitar! To make this even better I've used some nice glow in the dark guitar strings: The DR Neon strings: https://amzn.to/2LkHjXc * And what would an electric guitar building documentary be without a nice sound demo? This time I'm using a song I've written over ten years ago. I've exclusively polished it and wrote the lyrics only for this video. See how much I care? Haha. I hope you enjoy this wild build with me. If you have proposals for other guitar builds I could make in the future please leave me a comment below. All songs used in this tutorial are written & produced by me.
