1950's Allis Chalmers WD High Crop Sugarcane Loader

This Allis Chalmers WD tractor was last used on the San Francisco Plantation in Reserve, Louisiana. In 1987 this tractor was sitting in a field unused for many years. After some work on a few stuck valves, cleaning the carburator and cleaning the magneto, the tractor came back to life. Here is a short video of the tractor running. The engine had a straight pipe for the exhaust with no muffler. There is an hydraulics tank which feeds a pump on the front of the engine to work the grapple. The AC WD conversion was possibly done by Thompson Machinery in Thibodaux, Louisiana, known for other Louisiana Sugar Cane field tractors like the UC. Disposition of this tractor today is unkown. The 1978 John Deere 2040 in the background was our family tractor.
